03/16/2026 – The year 2025 confirms the growing desire for homeownership among Italians, and the national residential market provides solid evidence of this trend. According to the analysis by Abitare Co. – a real estate brokerage and services company specializing in new developments – based on data from the Real Estate Market Observatory (OMI) of the Italian Revenue Agency, residential sales in 2025 increased by +6.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 765,284 transactions.
Sales values increased in almost all major metropolitan cities, except Florence, which recorded –14% with 4,644 transactions. Among the other cities, the largest increases were recorded in Bologna (+17% and 6,090 transactions) and Palermo (+9.8% and 7,141 transactions). Positive results also came from Turin (+6.8% and 16,151 transactions), Rome (6.3% and 37,293 transactions), Genoa(5.7% and 9,273 transactions), Milan (4.9% and 25,173 transactions), and Naples (3.4% and 8,031 transactions).
